Full set of drawings, including plans, elevations (indicating facade finish and 1:25 sections).

For full design construction level information, ideally architectural and structural.

Enquiry sheet available upon request.

Q. Who is responsible for engineering take-off and drawings?

A. Kingspan Fabrik will carry out full engineering take-off and ensure design integrates with final architectural drawings.

Q. How is the price pitched to the architect/designer?

A. Initial budget rates per square metre can be provided by regionally based Area Sales Managers (ASMs). Project specific installed prices are provided as design progresses by the Approved Installer.

Q. What is the process for specifying and ordering Kingframe Architectural Facade Systems?

A. To reap the benefits of off-site construction, design teams should preferably integrate the facade systems and solutions with the main structure at design concept stage.

Kingspan Fabrik`s Design Team is available to support design and construction teams in evaluating the benefits, costs, speed and performance options on any given project. This will invariably involve an Approved Installer who will provide inputs on technical, commercial, build methods, etc.

Kingspan Fabrik will discuss specific project details and any value engineering requirements prior to submitting quotations and specifications in conjunction with Approved Installers.

When project specification, pricing and delivery has been agreed, Kingspan Fabrik will liaise with the design and construction team and the appointed Approved Installer for contract execution, facade solutions manufacture, materials supply and programme timings.

Q. What is GRC ?

A. Glass Reinforced Concrete – a composite material mix comprising a cement and silica sand matrix reinforced with chemical resistant glass fibres.

Performance
Q. How do the systems perform?

A. Load Tables are based upon BS 5950 Part 5: 1998 and BS 6399: Parts 1 & 2: 1997 Code of practice for dead, imposed and wind loadings for buildings.

Refer to Design Guide (www.kingspanoffsite.com) for load tables.

Thermal, Airtightness and Condensation:
Building Regulations Parts L1 & L2 Compliant.
U-Values: 0.35, 0.30, 0.25, 0.20 W/m2K.
Airtightness >5.0m2/hr/m3 @ 50 Pa.
Hygrothermal performance analysis data available.

Fire Engineering:
Tested to BS EN 1364 : Part 1 for Fire Resistance, Stability, Integrity and Insulation.

Surface spread of flame: Internal and external - refer to Design Guide. Fire stopping - refer to Design Guide.

Acoustic:
Tested to BS EN 150140-3: 1995 for Horizontal Transmission.

Design Guide details provide acoustic robustness.

Weather Resistance:
Tested to BS EN 12153 for Air Performance.
Tested to BS EN 12155 for Water Tightness.
Tested to BS EN 12179 for Wind Resistance.
Tested to BS EN 8200 Soft & Hard Body Impact.

Q. What is the lifetime durability for each system?

A. 60+ years

Q. What Certification do the systems have?

A. Systems have been fully tested for performance, and construction details are based on the tested solutions. BRE Certification for these systems are proceeding.

Q. What warranties do Kingspan Fabrik provide?

A. Kingspan Fabrik warranty the design and performance of the factory assembled architectural facade panels. BRE certification forms part of the system warranty.

Q. What contractual/design/warranty/sign off responsibility do Kingspan Fabrik take ?

A. The design risk is with Kingspan provided the BRE accredited details are adhered to.

All Approved Installers must have BRE accredited installation training.

Installation must comply with design team and/or manufacturer’s approved details and recommendations.

Installation

Q. How are the Fabrik panels connected to the main structure?

A. A range of connection methods are available for steel, concrete and timber frames, refer to the Design Guide. Where required, project specific solutions are designed.

Q. Do Kingspan Fabrik install the Fabrik system?

A. Yes Kingspan Fabrik can or site installation can be through a national network of specialist Approved Installers across the UK and Ireland.

The Approved Installer is qualified to tender, supply and build any of the Kingframe Architectural Facade Systems in the Design Guide.

Q. How many panels can be installed in a day?

A. Average 45 mins per facade frame panel assembly for 2 people utilising mechanical handling equipment, assuming good access to work site.

A. Typically 8-12 weeks from finalised details and placement of order, depending on size and complexity.

Q. What sign off and site supervision is offered by Kingspan?

A. A Kingspan Off-Site Project Manager will visit site to support the Approved Installer compliance with approved construction details.

Q. Who buys the product?

A. Only an Approved Installer can purchase and install the full system.

Q. Who is responsible for handling, lifting and fixing facade panels/assemblies into buildings?

A. The Approved Installer is responsible for all handling and fixing of facade panels/assemblies.

Benefits

Q. What is the cost comparison between Kingspan Fabrik architectural facade systems and traditional construction methods?

A. Installed cost savings are in the order of 5%. Additional cost savings are made through reduced on-site construction programme time (up to 40%). This allows lower prelims and attendances providing earlier project handover and client income stream. Off-site methods guarantee cost, time and quality certainty compared to traditional construction.

Q. Environmental Sustainability: What are the benefits of Modern Methods of Construction?

A. Off-site methods support Sustainable Construction and Eco Best Practice from design, material selection, manufacture, transportation, site assembly, ‘as built’ quality and ‘end of life’ recyclability. Typically reduces material waste by 30%. Reduced on-site working time optimises site related carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, energy usage, transportation and site equipment requirements, all reducing environmental impact.

Enhanced ‘as built’ quality certainty achieves lifetime energy usage and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions targets, which are typically 30 to 40% lower per annum than those achieved by traditional construction methods.

Communications

Q. How will design and construction teams be updated on further developments?

A.Via www.kingspanfabrik.com
